Change. It Is Time to Renew and Readapt

Overnight our lives have changed to the confines of our four walls. A sense of terror, grief, social confusion, anxiety and instability found us all.

While we are faced with constant worrying news and daily changes, now more than ever it is key to look after your mental health and emotional wellbeing and focus on making the most of your self-isolation time.

Changes are inevitable. They offer us challenges and internal revisions, where values, routines and attitudes can be shifted.  Radical change brings us a chance to make a better future.

It is part of human nature to resist to change; we want things to stay as they are. It’s easier not to change – or at least it seems that way on the surface, but nothing in life remains constant. Much of the discomfort associated with change results from our fear of the unfamiliar, of failure, of being alone, and our resistance to altering the status quo.

If we resist changing, we most likely will create tension and potentially health imbalances.

Adapting and overcoming life challenges is what allow us to evolve.

As life is usually more enjoyable when we appreciate how temporary every moment is, how we perceive and project a moment is at the root of how difficult or smooth we make it on ourselves and those around us.

Try to be open to new possibilities allowing growth and transformation. Focus to be mindful of where you are now; of how you feel; of how you respond to each situation, event and person in your life, and then embrace yourself and the moment with acceptance and resilience.

Seven tips for coping with big changes in your life and coming out a better person for it.

  1. Acknowledge that things are changing and how it affects you and your family.
  2. When working from home, focus on keeping up your regular schedule, as much as possible.
  3. Eat as healthily as possible.
  4. Get enough rest.
  5. Breath. Read. Have a walk listening to your favourite songs. If you have children, have quality time with your kids.
  6. Keep connected with family & friends. Social distancing means physical distance and social solidarity. Organise video group calls, create video gatherings on a weekend with a glass of wine and music.
  7. Seek and offer support. No one is an island and small gestures can make impactful changes.
